The short answer: a fantasy cricket app for a franchise T20 league has 4 to 7 weeks to win players, not 10. That moves everything forward: the launch decision, the sign-up window, squad rules for overseas players, double-header deadlines, rain and stat-correction rules, and sponsor packages sold by the week. Plan the season before you build the game.
On Saturday 12 December 2026, the Melbourne Renegades and the Perth Scorchers open BBL|16 at the MA Chidambaram Stadium in Chennai. Chennai is 1 of our 3 offices. We will watch that match as fans, and as people who have run a fantasy cricket season end to end.
Here is the arithmetic that matters if you are planning a game for it. BBL|16 runs 46 days, 12 December to 26 January. DP World ILT20 Season 5 in the UAE runs 30 days. The Hundred’s 2026 season ran 27 days. The IPL season we operated for Dream11 ran 74 matches, with weekly contests over 10 weeks. A franchise season is under 2/3 of that length, and that changes how the game is built and run.
A fantasy cricket app is a game in which fans pick a squad of real players and score points from what those players do in real matches. Sciflare builds and operates fantasy cricket apps, and the predictor games that sit beside them, for leagues, franchises, broadcasters and publishers.
Why does a 6-week season change how a fantasy cricket app works?
Every week is a bigger share of the season, so every mistake and every late start costs more. In a 10-week season, 1 week is 10% of the game. In ILT20’s 30-day season, 1 week is nearly a quarter of it.
| IPL-length season | 4 to 7-week franchise season | |
|---|---|---|
| Length | 74 matches, about 10 weeks (the Dream11 season we operated) | 34 matches in 30 days (ILT20 Season 5); 44 in 46 days (BBL|16); 68 in 27 days (The Hundred 2026) |
| Sign-up window | Pre-season plus the first 2 to 3 weeks | Pre-season plus the first week. After that, late joiners are too far behind on a season-long table |
| Mid-season launch | 14 days leaves most of the season | 14 days in a 30-day season leaves 16 days. Treat it as a playoff game, not a season |
| Player pool | Mostly settled after the auction | Overseas players arrive late, leave early or cross between leagues |
| Match days | Mostly 1 match a day | Double-headers: 6 in BBL|16, 6 in ILT20 Season 5, every matchday in The Hundred 2026 |
| Stat corrections | A slow fix costs a few % of the season | A 2-day delay is 2 of 30 days. Players notice and leave |
| Sponsor package | Sold by the month or the season | Sold by the week, the double-header and the finals |
| Gap to next season | About 10 months | About 10 to 11 months, so re-engagement carries more weight |
The engine underneath is the same. What changes is the calendar, the rules and the operating cover.
When do you need to decide, for BBL|16, ILT20 or The Hundred?
Work backwards from the first ball. A white-label game goes live in 7 to 14 days, so the latest signing date is about 2 weeks before the opener, plus time for the data feed contract and sponsor artwork.
DP World ILT20 Season 5. The fixture list published on 7 October puts the opener on Saturday 21 November 2026, Desert Vipers against MI Emirates in Dubai, with the final on Sunday 20 December at Dubai International Stadium (Khaleej Times). It is 6 teams and 34 matches across Dubai, Abu Dhabi and Sharjah. The latest white-label decision date is 7 November.
BBL|16. 44 matches from 12 December to 26 January, with 6 double-headers (cricket.com.au). After Chennai, the league returns to Australia on 15 December and the finals start on 19 January (SEN). The latest white-label decision date is 28 November.
The Hundred. The 2026 season ran from 21 July to the final on 16 August, 68 matches with every matchday a men’s and women’s double-header (The Hundred). The 2027 dates are not yet published. A custom build takes 4 to 6 months, so a custom game signed this winter is ready for the English summer.
The choice between white-label and custom is not about budget. If you are sure of your audience, your go-to-market and your long-term plan, build custom. If you are still proving the market, start on white-label fantasy sports software and learn from a full season first.
How should a fantasy cricket app handle player churn and overseas players?
Treat the player list as live data, not a pre-season upload. In a short league, overseas players arrive after national duty, leave for another league or are replaced mid-season, and the game has to absorb each change without breaking anyone’s team.
The 2026/27 calendar shows why. ILT20 Season 5 finishes on 20 December. BBL|16 starts on 12 December. For 9 days the 2 leagues run at the same time, and overseas players move between them. A manager who picked a player in round 1 needs to know, before the deadline, that the player has left the squad.
What the game needs:
– A player-status field (available, not yet arrived, left the league, replaced) shown on the team screen, fed from the data provider and checked by a person.
– A replacement rule published before the season: a free transfer when a player leaves the league, so nobody is punished for news they could not see.
– Price or value updates on the day a player is added, so a late arrival is not a free pick.
– A deadline per match, not per round, so a squad change on Tuesday does not lock a team that plays on Thursday.
What do double-headers, rain and DLS do to deadlines and scoring?
Double-headers create 2 deadlines on the same day, and rain creates matches that are shortened, decided by the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern method or abandoned. Write the rules for all 3 before the first match, because changing them mid-season costs trust you cannot win back in 4 weeks.
Double-headers. ILT20 Season 5 has 6 double-header days, with matches at 2pm and 6:30pm UAE time (Khaleej Times). Decide whether a manager can change the team between the 2 matches. Decide whether the day counts as 1 round or 2. Expect 2 traffic peaks, not 1. The platform we built for Dream11 carried 200K peak (150K sustained) concurrent players at sub-40ms in IPL cricket. A franchise game peaks lower, but the shape is the same: the load arrives in the minutes before each lock.
The Hundred is a special case. Every 2026 matchday paired a women’s and a men’s match. That is 2 player pools on 1 day, and a reason to run a women’s game alongside the men’s, with its own sponsor.
Rain and DLS. Publish 3 rules: how points work in a shortened match (count what happened, no pro-rating, is the clearest), what happens in an abandoned match (points scored before the abandonment stand, or the match is voided for everyone), and whether a no-result changes the captain’s multiplier. Whatever you choose, apply it the same way every time.
Who handles stat corrections in a 30-day T20 season?
Someone on duty when the correction arrives. Official scorers amend T20 scorecards after the match: a catch credited to the wrong fielder, a run-out reassigned, a no-ball changed to a wide. Each one moves points, and each one reorders the leaderboard.
In a 10-week season, a correction applied 2 days late is an annoyance. In a 30-day season it is 2 of the 30 days, and the people at the top of the table are the ones who notice first. They are also the players a sponsor wants to keep.
This is the work we do under Managed Game Operations: Sciflare runs the season, including the calendar, stat corrections, leaderboard integrity, player support and sponsor reporting. There are standard and peak tiers, with 24-hour cover and a 1 to 2-hour turnaround. The time zones matter here. BBL|16 opens in Chennai and finishes in Australia. ILT20 plays in the UAE. The Hundred plays in England. Our offices in London, Dubai and Chennai cover those clocks between them. For Dream11 in the IPL, we operated 74 matches end to end, with 5.5M (5,582,369) managers across the season. See managed game operations for fantasy sports for how the service runs.
How do you size a sponsor package for a 6-week season?
Sell it by the week and by the moment, not by the month. A title sponsor buys the whole season, but in a 46-day BBL that is 7 weeks of inventory, so the package needs more placements per week to carry the same value.
The placements that fit a short season:
– Title sponsor for the game and the season leaderboard.
– Week sponsor, 1 per week, with its own prize and its own leaderboard.
– Double-header sponsor, for the 6 double-header days in BBL|16 or ILT20.
– Finals sponsor, for a finals predictor that runs from the last group match to the final.
– Women’s game sponsor for The Hundred.
Report weekly. A sponsor who sees registrations, weekly active players and placement delivery every Monday renews. A sponsor who waits for the end-of-season report gets it after next season’s budget is already set.
Most league, franchise and publisher games in these markets are free to enter, with prizes paid by the club, the publisher or a sponsor. Paid entry is regulated differently in Australia, the UK and the UAE. The licence is the client’s; we guide you through it.
Fantasy or predictor: which fits a short franchise season?
Run season-long fantasy if you can be live before the first match, and a predictor if you cannot. A predictor asks for 1 pick per match, so a fan who joins in week 4 is still in the game. A season-long table does not forgive a late start in a 30-day season.
The strongest pattern for a short league is both: season-long fantasy for the core fans from day 1, and a match predictor for the casual fans who arrive with the double-headers and the finals. Both run on the same accounts, so every sign-up counts once. Our guide to predictor, quiz or fantasy format choice covers the trade-offs in detail.
This is not for you if you cannot sign by 7 November for ILT20 or 28 November for BBL|16 and you want season-long fantasy. Run a finals predictor this season instead, and plan the full game for next season. It is also not for you if nobody owns the game after launch. A short season has no quiet weeks in which to catch up.
What keeps a cricket fantasy app alive between seasons?
A calendar that does not stop at the final. BBL|16 ends on 26 January; the next BBL starts about 10 months later. Without a plan, the registered players you paid to acquire go cold.
What works:
– Chain the leagues. For a Gulf or a multi-league publisher, ILT20 in November and December, BBL from December to January and The Hundred in the English summer give 3 seasons on 1 account.
– Pre-season events. The player auction or draft before each season is a predictor in its own right: who goes where, and for how much.
– International cricket in the gap. A lighter predictor or quiz on the international calendar keeps the weekly habit alive.
– One account. If the game sits inside your own site and app, every returning player logs into your product. See how to embed a fantasy game in your website.
How do you get a fantasy cricket app live for this season?
Start with a short call: your league, your audience, free or paid, and your target date. Then a demo, a scope (rules, data feed, sponsor placements and how much of the season you want us to run), and launch.
As of today, 12 October 2026, the ILT20 opener is 40 days away and the BBL|16 opener is 61 days away. A white-label game needs 7 to 14 days. There is room for both, if the decision is made in the next few weeks.

Frequently asked questions
How long does it take to launch a fantasy cricket app for a franchise league?
A white-label fantasy cricket app goes live in 7 to 14 days, and 14 days if the season has already started. A custom build takes 4 to 6 months. For a 30-day league like ILT20, launch before the first match or run a predictor instead.
Can a fantasy cricket game launch after the Big Bash has started?
Yes, in 14 days. BBL|16 runs 46 days, from 12 December 2026 to 26 January 2027, so a mid-season launch still covers the second half and the finals. Use monthly or weekly leaderboards so late joiners have a race they can win.
How does a fantasy cricket app handle rain-affected and abandoned matches?
It applies rules published before the season: points count for what happened in a shortened or Duckworth-Lewis-Stern match, and an abandoned match is either scored as played or voided for everyone. The rule matters less than applying it the same way every time.
What is the difference between a fantasy cricket app and a cricket fantasy app?
None. Both describe the same product: fans pick real players and score points from real matches. Leagues, broadcasters and publishers run them free to play under their own brand, with prizes from a sponsor.
Who runs the fantasy game during a short T20 season?
Either your team or ours. Under Managed Game Operations, Sciflare runs the season: the calendar, stat corrections, leaderboard integrity, player support and sponsor reporting, with 24-hour cover and a 1 to 2-hour turnaround.
