A Quick Overview Of Fantasy Sports

What would you do when you want to play a contest of cricket or football when you’re not in a play court? If that’s the case, the options available for you are none other than the fantasy sports games. Here the user virtually competes against other user’s virtual teams made of players based on real life sports persons and their data. If this all sounds a bit dizzy, no need to worry. Let’s get a clear cut idea on what “Fantasy sports” is and all the things around it. Hop in!

A Brief History Of Fantasy Sports : How It All Started

There are many fantasy sports games on the horizon mainly such as Football, Tennis, Cricket, American Football, Basketball, Kabaddi etc. Unlike traditional sports betting, the medium is generally viewed as “Game of skill”, rather than “Game of chance” which settles the debate of it being considered as gambling. It is basically an imaginary game where you create a roster of players to compete against other players online.

It was officially started back in 1998 under the name of “Fantasy Sports Trade Association” (FSTA) in the United States and Canada. It has been renamed to “Fantasy Sports & Gaming Association” (FSGA). The most popular fantasy sport in the US and Canada is Gridiron Football, which is played by approximately 78% of fantasy participants. The next most popular sports are Baseball (39%), Basketball(19%), Ice hockey (18%), and Association Football (14%).

Based upon a 2019 survey, we get to know that 81% of players were male and this gives us a clear idea about the target audience in the market. In the United States, it has a massive market of whooping 2 billion dollars. This engagement platform is popular in even other parts of the world such as eastern countries and many more. The rate of growth in the player base is rapid and especially in today’s era of “Anything & Everything over Internet”, fantasy sports business is looking unstoppable.

Fundamentals Of Fantasy Football : Understanding The Basics

The most commonly played and widely popular fantasy sport game is mainly “Fantasy football”. As stated before, the basic concept is that the user will buy players using the credit which is provided to them by the respective platform, form a team roster and will play against other users online for exclusive and exciting prizes. The number of substitutes that can be picked, the number of teammates that can be hired in a squad, and all the other aspects are totally based on the particular engagement platform where one plays on.

Usually, the user will be provided with a “sign-in” credit which they can use to hire players or enter matches for the team. Users will also be rewarded for opening the mobile application on a daily basis.

Constant engagement with the platform on a daily basis also gets you credits using which you can manage the team which you’ve formed. From plotting a perfect formation for the team to deriving strategies, the player has to completely focus and use their skills in order to crack a win over the opponent. In some of the platforms, players can compete against AI for fun too.

You can join any public contest, which is open to everyone, and in some fantasy sports, such as the Fantasy Premier League, one can host a private lobby, where only the players with a host invitation can join in.

Setting up a squad who will be jack of all trades is the key as you will be playing against various teams constructed using various strategies by other players online. These things more or less comprise the fundamentals of it clearly.

How To Play Fantasy Sports? – A Step By Step Guide

    • First and foremost thing one should do is basically forming a team with the credits given. Each user will get a login bonus credits which they can use to draft players into their respective teams.
    • One should plot strategies suitable for the team they play against and also based upon the league in which they play
    • You select your own team of players, setting a lineup every week. Then, you watch as they run, pass, catch, and score touchdowns, all of which are worth fantasy points.

18 million people bet on sports in the US every year

How Fantasy Sports Work? – Rules and Scoring System

It’s not always about money as you can hop in and play on some engagement platforms just for fun without the involvement of any actual money. Based on how the contest goes, one might either win or lose the game while competing against other users. Imagine winning premium headphones just by winning a few contests in a free online game — sounds like a deal, doesn’t it?

The cash points or the credits which you receive on the regular basis in the application can be used for other in-app activities such as recruiting other players who are up for sale during the drafting window. Proper decisions have to be taken while purchasing a new player and also while dropping an existing player as a player who doesn’t seem valuable for the one match-day might become the trump card while playing against a different team.

The total number of cash or reward points after winning a contest depends upon the number of goals, assists, fouls, yellow cards, red cards and all the other important moments that happen in the contest for the winning side. Aspects like goals, assists and the performance of the player who’s appointed as the captain for the match-day gain us points and things such as fouls, yellow cards and red cards result in deduction of reward points. You can pick players from any team you want while drafting, it is robust and gives players every freedom possible during the draft window. Knowing these things should be more than enough for a player who plays fantasy football for the first time as these are the basics.

Rewards For Winning in Fantasy Sports

Different engagement platforms treat their player base with different sorts of rewards upon winning. Some offer the player a real cash amount as a prize for winning, while others offer the player reward points that can be used to redeem prizes such as headphones, speakers, etc. The players will receive either in-game currency coupons, prizes, cash points, or even actual cash prices based upon the engagement platform they play on.

At the end of the day, it’s always good for a user to gain rewards out of winning a contest and the platform which offers such rewards in fantasy football easily has the higher user count.

The Football Premier League offers its winner with mind-boggling prizes such as a 7 night trip to the UK with VIP class hospitality and accommodation, a brand new laptop, wireless headphones, a free copy of FIFA 23 video game and many other free goodies. Now tell me whether that doesn’t sound tempting?

Do’s and Don’ts in Fantasy Sports

There are certain do’s and don’ts in every game that exists and fantasy sports are no exception. Let’s have a detailed look at some of them.

    do's and dont's banner

    1. The Key to Winning in Fantasy Sports

Fantasy football leagues usually span out for a longer time. After using the initial credits which the user gets to form a team and to make other adjustments, it is preferable to use the remaining points wisely as it’s always good to have few in-game bucks to spend at crucial times.

It is always better for a user to spend them wisely as lavish spending of in-game currency without necessity might result in shortage of credits during late season. Tip from a fellow player… don’t tell anyone.

    2. Low Profile Matches are the Safe Bet

If the user decides to play on a match day consisting of teams with a big profile, the chance of losing is higher than the chances of winning even if the user is skilled as the team based advantage also plays a role in fantasy football. It is always preferable for a user to pick the low profile matches during the initial stages so that the risk of losing is less and the rewards for winning the contest is also decent for the standards. Next time when you decide to match up against a team, calculate all the odds and possibilities.

    3. Activate the In-Game Perks During Matches Efficiently

Ton of perks are available for each player in a team, and based on when we use it and how we use it, it might play a vital role in winning the game while competing against an opponent. For example, the difference between the rewards with perks activated and without perks is high. Fantasy football Leagues are a marathon, not a sprint. It is a game that you have to keep on top of every week – so when you can get a boost here and there, it’s worth doing so to keep on top of the competition.

For example, the perks such as “Triple captain”, “Bench boost” &“Free kick” which are available in the application allows you to double the number of points you get upon winning a contest. Again, the in-game perks differ from one engagement platform to the other, but one should be clever enough to utilize it if it is available.

For example, the perk “Bench Boost” will allow you to make points from all the substitutes in your squad. Rather than having to leave a goalkeeper and three outfield players out of your first XI, you’ll get points for all 15 players in your squad by activating this boost.

These are the major do’s and don’ts when it comes to fantasy football leagues and knowing this will definitely give you an edge while playing with others.

34% of fantasy sports players are female.

How To Take Your Game To The Next Level? – Strategies

First of all, it is important for the user to find the weakness in the current team and if he/she has overflowing strength, then they should plan on using that strengths to acquire players at positions which currently look weak.

“Always double check on the bye-dates for the players so that you can be well aware of when to recruit a new player or drop an existing player. Being unaware of the bye-dates might result in unwanted hassle during tight scenarios”

Along with the bye-dates, one should be well aware of all the side bench stuff such as the status of injured players, stuff like how the promoted players are performing and also regarding the reserve players. One should be constantly monitoring the horizon with Eagle’s eye, sharp enough to notice any steal deals for players during the trade window. Analyze the upcoming features, as that might come in handy for us to assemble a perfect squad in prior to takedown different oppositions.

A missed opportunity to bag one of the best players in the league for a low cost might hurt the team in some or the other way. If you have been following all the above till here, you should be able to land a clean foot in this heavily skill based game. Finally, one more piece of advice. Look at the top managers! You can check your friend league any time and look at the squads of the top managers in it.

See what players they have chosen in the previous round. Do they have Salah or Aguero or both? It’s not a bad idea to make a compilation of the best teams.

    Conclusion

All this should give you a basic idea on what fantasy football is, along with its untold rules and matter. Even Though it is not considered as a skill based sport in many countries as some platforms involve real time money, most of the other countries have accepted it and approved it. It’s purely a skill based game where masterful minds and tactical brains win over others. Now, Go! Get on the E-field and prove your skills amidst other players. The world of Fantasy sports awaits you!

  • Android App Development – Java / Flutter / Kotlin / ReactNative – A Deep Dive

Android App Development – Java / Flutter / Kotlin / ReactNative – A Deep Dive

    Quick Summary:

Are you considering creating across-platform operation but doubtful about the stylish technology? Four of the top technologies employed to produce mobile technologies are Java, Kotlin, Flutter and ReactNative. Flutter and Kotlin are two up-and-coming contenders in the struggle for supremacy in the cross-platform mobile app framework. Java and Kotlin are programming languages, whereas Flutter and ReactNative are framework. To clarify the argument between Java, Kotlin, Flutter and ReactNative that’s attracting the attention of many developers.

We are all set to move to the year of the rabbit and while most things around us are bound to change, there is one thing certain – the craze for smartphones, faster working mobile apps, and inventions in technology will continue to rule our world.

And while we may grin, laugh, cry and smile our way over the various applications we will continue to download, the end users may never realize how the language used for the development of these mobile applications is as important as the language we use to emote. And the truth of the matter is that the functioning of this language affects our various moods and our emotions at a deeper level than we will ever know.

For businesses, the phase is tougher than ever. Every industry wants to be faster, efficient, and smarter when it comes to being the favorite amongst its consumers. While technology is evolving rapidly every day, the need for building trust is deeper than ever. It wouldn’t be wrong to believe, that more than the brand philosophies and its marketing campaigns, what truly will help a business flourish is its way of being as sharp as possible, especially when it comes to technology.

We need to be more dynamic, more robust, and more engaging when it comes to interacting with our customers these days. And while smartphones are getting smarter, pressure on mobile applications to perform on all levels is a serious conversation for every developer. Since there are numerous platforms, languages, methods, and frameworks available, the task to put a tick mark on one is a tougher task for most businesses.

Who’s battling it out for the throne?

To develop an app that’s super friendly, extrovert to the core, deeply interactive, and most accessible, what truly matters is how its framework and tools suit the end user’s requirement. In addition to this, the way a mobile app is developed, planned, and executed is of prime importance too.

While Java was a personal favorite until now for developing mobile applications, there are three more contenders in the struggle for supremacy in the cross-platform mobile application framework. These are Kotlin, Flutter, and ReactNative. While Kotlin has been accepted as the official language for mobile development, Flutter and ReactNative enjoy the status of being popular cross-platform app development frameworks in the world.

If as a business owner you think you can make a rash decision while choosing the best mobile app framework, you are just about to fall into a ditch. Rather than being traditional, it’s time to put your intelligence glasses on while making a decision here.

Why chew our brains? It’s just an app!

Really? It’s just an app? You are just plain unaware that this app may soon become the bloodstream of your business. And you think you can sit on the king’s throne with that attitude? Nah! It’s not an app, but a creative formulation that can help your business go deep into the minds of consumers. It’s a creation that will give you a name and a new identity for the work you do.

Be wise, be tough and choose the best!

    apps developed with react native

When to use ReactNative? ReactNative is most convenient from the point of view of cross-platform compatibility. It helps to build high-performing apps that are stable and scalable in the long run. It also helps to build apps easily and quickly as compared to its competitors. When looking to build apps that are pleasant and responsive, ReactNative is a favorite among developers.

    Comparison of essential parameters:

    Performance:

When it comes to performance, ReactNative gains brownie points straight away because it is cheaper than native development. Since it is based on JavaScript, it does not have to shout loud to gain that extra attention, it always remains a top choice among developers. With ReactNative, generating code for native APIs is an easy process as it aligns perfectly with components of both operating systems, android and iOS.

With Kotlin, you have enhanced speed and less scope for errors. Its multi-platform usability also makes it a top contender. While Java and Kotlin are programming languages, Flutter is more of a UI development kit. On any given day, Flutter accounts for higher and increased productivity because of its Hot Reload and Hot Restart feature.

As for Java, it complies 13% faster than Kotlin and is a vibrant and extensible programming language. With fewer bugs, it scores high in efficiency as well.

The winner here? Well, it’s a draw!

    Learning Curve:

Being a Google baby, Kotlin is easy to learn as there are many courses available for Kotlin. Developers find it easy to learn and use Kotlin for android as it is fully interoperable with Java. On the other hand, due to its JSX, ReactNative has a steep learning curve though one can easily find developers and requires a skill set for it.

As for ReactNative, it’s easier to learn it if you have a thorough understanding of JavaScript. It would also help if you know some basic HTML and CSS. When it comes to Flutter, it has better comprehensive documentation available. If you have some prior experience, learning Flutter will be like a walk in the park.

Thanks to its type safety, object-orientedness, and overall straightforwardness, Java enjoys the status of being one of the easiest programming languages for beginners to learn. Getting to know Java is not difficult stuff as most developers would describe it.

The winner here? Well, it’s a tie between Java and Flutter.

    Popularity:

Being the world’s first baby in terms of programming languages, Java has undoubtedly enjoyed a lot of stardom and popularity all these years. It will perhaps never lose marks in terms of popularity because it became the foundation and the base for the other programming languages to grow.

On the other hand, Flutter today shines like a star among app developers throughout the globe due to its friendly environment and strong cross-platform development framework. As for Kotlin, it may not shake hands with Flutter and Java when it comes to popularity, but it nevertheless enjoys a loyal fan following of its own.

It’s heartening to know that ReactNative too isn’t far behind. With a 38% market share, it has been able to create a strong foothold as the 2nd most used cross-platform mobile app development framework adopted worldwide.

    comparision banner

Flutter app development finds its place as the top three most loved technology with a percentage of 68.03% in the global index.

    The winner here? Flutter undoubtedly.

    UI/UX Design:

It’s a widely accepted fact that an immaculate interface design will always enable an app to have higher downloads. If you truly want to make or break your customer base, you need to work hard at creating a UI and UX design that persuades users at first sight.

While Java enjoys immense love from developers, it does not offer specific instructions to developers while designing. On the other hand, Flutter helps developers with functional, classy, and scalable applications as it has unparalleled customization options engraved inside. As for Kotlin, its cross-platform capabilities help it to make efficient applications without many issues.

ReactNative too helps developers create an impressive graphical user interface without many hassles. The UI controllers and the ReactJS Library give them a lot of power to create interfaces that attract more and more customers. On the whole, Flutter and ReactNative seem to be more trusted when it comes to an impeccable UI and UX design interface.

The winner here? It’s a tie between Flutter and ReactNative.

    Pricing:

When it comes to pricing, these programming languages are extremely affordable on the pocket and easily available for most people to learn and use for their benefit.

None of them cost a bomb and none of them give you any second thoughts here. Flutter is an open-source platform and is free of cost. On the other hand, Kotlin is also free of cost. You can easily find its source code on GitHub as well.

As for Java, you will find paid updates for JDK 8, 11, and 13 from Oracle on their website. All this is for commercial use and numerous developers can easily avail of its services.

When it comes to ReactNative, it’s just like Flutter and Kotlin, open source and available free of cost to everyone. With the click of a mouse, these programming languages are all yours.

The winner here? All of them.

    Support for testing:

Kotlin leads the pack here due to its multi-platform app development framework. You don’t need to integrate anything with Kotlin. All this enables developers to work with their native tools for cross-platform apps too as they begin mobile app development using Kotlin. Flutter too enjoys plus points due to its well-documented support. It makes the testing process easier as it integrates quickly with iOS and android based platforms.

As for ReactNative, the testing methods seldom cover the actual logic written in the apps. Therefore, ReactNative provides more benefits when it comes to functional testing. Since ReactNative is highly compatible, it provides more tools, frameworks, and native methods for testing at large.

Java too offers a large framework in terms of testing. However, it can give a headache to experienced programmers and novice developers too.

The winner here? No doubt, it’s Kotlin.

A comparison from Cross-Platform Development Outlook:

The way a programming language and its framework work on a cross-platform development basis greatly describes its success in today’s volatile mobile application development environment. At the same time, it’s satisfying to know that all the leading app development languages do not differ by a large margin in solving cross-platform issues and glitches.

Being equipped with many modern features, Kotlin supports hybrid mobile app cross-platform development on a much deeper level. Developers don’t have to think twice while working on mobile app development using Kotlin multi-platform to develop apps seamlessly and efficiently across all platforms. But, even ReactNative is not too far behind. It occupies a dominant position and tops the chart thereby providing several tools to developers that make the hybrid mobile app development process easy and extremely effective.

However, as compared to Flutter, ReactNative is slowly losing its charm and initial fixation. With the support of Google’s UI toolkit, Flutter app development is fast becoming a personal favorite among a lot of developers. It tends to provide a wholesome experience in terms of cross-platform development and rates high in the development index.

The father of all, even Java is not too far behind even with its newer competitors occupying a prominent position. Even today it is the most universal cross-platform development language. However, as compared to its newer counterparts, it lacks behind when you want to expand the scope to the iOS platform.

However, Kotlin Multi-platform seems to have taken a major liking in the market. Whether one wants to share business logic between multiple platforms or write platform-specific codes, Kotlin Multi-platform is riding high to become a huge success in the days to come.

While most of these programming languages have their own set of limitations and benefits, you have to look deep into your requirements while choosing one.

    Wrapping up with our thoughts:

Well, we suggest that you have a second glance at your requirements and have a clearer idea of what you need to achieve while using any of the above languages. There is equal love and hate for all, but above all none of these will fail to give you the outcome that you want, however the processes may be a little different.

No doubt, Kotlin, and Flutter are highly efficient and capable platforms for developing cross-platform apps, ReactNative too provides an excellent framework and smooth performance. According to many developers and tech enthusiasts worldwide, apps built with ReactNative are the future of hybrid mobile apps.

While Flutter and Kotlin are growing rapidly and offer robust technology for custom mobile app development, Java and ReactNative enjoy a loyal user base too.

At the end, have a deep conversation with yourself, a thorough look at your goal sheet, and a profound idea of your business requirements while opting for one!

A fifth of all cyber attacks launched by North Korea last year originated from India.

That’s according to a July report by research firm Insikt Group

They were concerned abt such Attacks, Data compromise, Server Lock out, on how to prevent data to be accessed outside the org, #HIPAA compliance, #GDPR compliance etc and so on,

When discussing with them and asking few basic questions like,

do you have a #CloudSecurity Plan in place ?

do you have checklist to go through during Product releases or Production pushes ?

do you know the common #vulnerabilities for the Tech Stack u use ?

Who has the admin / root credentials for your Cloud accounts ?

Do you have an Automated Backup plans in place ?

after such questions i find that more than 70% of them are not aware of Cloud Security or come up with some irrelevant explanations.

so i wanted to check how are others answering on this issue, hence created a quick survey, do share your feedback, Will share the insights / infographics on the Survey on — “How good is your Cloud Security”.
